Job Summary:

The Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Service Technician is responsible for the installation, servicing, preventive maintenance, and repair of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. The technician ensures that all systems operate efficiently and reliably while adhering to safety and quality standards, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine servicing and preventive maintenance on various types of air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment to prolong system lifespan and prevent breakdowns.

• Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues within HVAC and refrigeration units.

• Repair or replace defective components such as compressors, motors, fans, thermostats, valves, and refrigerant lines.

• Install new air-conditioning and refrigeration systems or components according to technical specifications and industry standards.

• Perform system performance tests including pressure checks, temperature measurements, and leak detection to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety regulations.

• Maintain detailed and accurate service logs, including work performed, parts used, and system conditions.

• Advise customers on proper system usage, maintenance schedules, and energy-saving practices to optimize performance and extend equipment life.

• Follow all safety protocols and regulations to minimize risks during installation and servicing activities.

• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to improve service quality and resolve complex technical issues.


Qualifications:

• Proven experience in servicing, maintaining, and repairing air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration principles, electrical systems, and refrigerants as evidenced by an AC & Refrigeration certification.

• Proficient in using diagnostic tools, electrical meters, leak detectors, and repair equipment.

• Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.

• Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

• Good communication and customer service skills to effectively interact with clients.

• Relevant technical certifications or licenses (e.g., HVAC certification, refrigerant handling license) preferred.

• Physically able to handle equipment and work in various environments, including confined spaces and heights.

• Valid Driver’s Licence

 

Working Conditions:

• Service Technicians will work in a variety of environments including residential homes, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities.

• The role involves exposure to outdoor weather conditions as well as confined spaces, heights, and occasionally cramped or awkward positions.

• Physical demands include lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and performing manual tasks that require dexterity and stamina.

• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory to ensure safety on job sites.

• Flexible working hours are required, with the possibility of evening, weekend, and emergency service calls.

• Technicians must be prepared to respond to urgent repairs and be adaptable to changing schedules and locations.

• Travel between job sites is a regular part of the role and may involve extended periods away from the primary base of operations.

• The technician must maintain professionalism and safety awareness in all environments, often working independently with minimal supervision.
