Job Function
The Buyer is accountable for procuring goods and services in a timely, cost effective and ethical manner. The incumbent is also responsible for managing the current and future Supply Value Chain and may be assigned responsibility for meeting one or more of the Department KPI’s or Annual Goals.

Job Activities
Understand the elements of creating a safe work environment for all employees/contractors by being knowledgeable of and compliant with all applicable safety, health and environmental (SHE) requirements, leading by example, and promoting a positive SHE attitude/culture to all.


Procurement Request Documents
Prepares RFQ’s, RFP’s and other appropriate Inquiry Documents.

 

Contract Execution
Reviews and Executes Commercial Terms and Conditions of Contract. Reviews Commercial Risk.

Executes and administers contracts (including Purchase Orders using the Company’s work management and purchasing system).


External Parties
Negotiates with external parties (Suppliers, Contractors, Gov’t Agencies) as Company’s primary representative.

 

Manages Supply Chain

• Creates purchase orders. 

• Maintains and manages entire lifecycle of purchase orders and other basic procurement documentation.

• Assesses risks, identifies trends and opportunities, and makes recommendations for improving procurement processes, policies and procedures.

• Meets the demands of multiple clients including external stakeholders. 

• Utilizes communication skills and effective interaction with partners and suppliers. 

• Ensures all procurement activities are aligned with the purchasing strategy and procurement plan.   

• Identifies approved suppliers to address requirements. 

• Creates individual annual objectives, measures, and performance targets aligned with the overall Procurement Team and the SCM functions’ performance targets.

• Defines priorities and ensures alignment with overall objectives.

• Makes decisions within established guidelines. 

• Determines course of action as per procedural guidelines and contracts.

• Provides direction and skills transfer to others as required.

• Interacts with members of the Organization that are at a senior level and makes recommendations for operational improvements.

 

Qualifications, Experience Requirements

• First degree in Business, Economics, Law, or Engineering (or related discipline).

• Post graduate certificates, diplomas, or degrees e.g., CQM, CIPS and Professional Courses etc.
