Job Brief:
The Chief Financial and Operating Officer (CFOO) is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the Company’s day to day financial and operational functions. The CFOO will work closely with the MD/CEO to implement strategic plans, optimize operational efficiency, enhance governance, and manage risks. This role ensures the Company achieves its strategic, financial, and operational objectives in a dynamic environment, while maintaining financial stability and compliance with all regulatory, fiduciary, and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Governance
• Be a member of the Company’s Senior Management team, contributing to the overall leadership and governance of the Company.
• Work closely with the CEO to develop, implement, and maintain financial and operational strategies aligned to the Company’s strategic goals.
• Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging new ideas and solutions, and implementing best in class industry change management practices.
• Partner with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to develop performance metrics and tracking mechanisms against strategic objectives.
• Lead the development of Operational KPIs across the Company.
• Represent the Company at Group or External engagements
Financial Strategy & Oversight
• Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the organization meets all regulatory reporting obligations by overseeing the timely and accurate submission of required financial and compliance reports .
• Provide strategic financial leadership by working collaboratively with the HOF to develop and execute sound financial strategies that support organizational goals and ensure long-term financial sustainability.
• Oversee the budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes through the HOF, ensuring timely and accurate information for decision making and Board/Board subcommittee review.
• Guide the preparation of financial plans, forecasts, and performance analyses in coordination with the HOF to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
• Lead the development of a comprehensive tax efficiency strategy while ensuring all tax compliance filings are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
• Direct the internal and external audit processes, working through the HOF to coordinate responses and implement corrective actions to address audit findings.
Operational Leadership & Excellence in Collaboration with the Head of Operations
• Direct and oversee the Company's central branch and location operations.
• Guide the Head of Business Operations in managing the operational structure, including the middle office functions of Customer Service, Transaction Processing, Credit Administrations, Facilities Management, Health & Safety, to ensure streamlined, end-to-end business processes and daily operations.
• Develop, implement, and manage efficient operational policies, procedures, and workflows for sustainable development and optimized service delivery.
• Regularly analyze the effectiveness of business processes and recommend corrective actions to address inefficiencies.
• Ensure the delivery of an outstanding client service that is always focused and efficient.
• Establish and review key operational risk indicators and formulate action plans to minimize the Company’s exposure to fraud and losses.
• Manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation.
Digital Transformation & Technology Integration in Collaboration with the Head of Digital
• Collaborate with the Head, Digital Technology to develop, implement, and integrate ICT strategies, policies, and processes aligned with organizational goals.
• Manage and maximize ICT investment through the critical planning and implementation of technology upgrades and system improvements which support innovation and business growth.
• Maintain governance and control over the ICT environment to manage risks and ensure compliance with industry standards and policies.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of a disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, mentor, manage, and develop skilled Finance, Operations, and Digital Technology teams capable of supporting current and future business demands.
• Foster a strong culture of compliance, accountability, and innovation.
• Collaborate with leadership to build an environment of collective responsibility and accountability.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management or related discipline
• A professional accounting designation (ACCA, CPA)
• Risk and/or Compliance management certification (e.g. AML, ACAMS, FRM, CRM) would be an asset
• Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience at a senior management level in a similar position, within the financial services sector
• Senior managerial experience in one of or a combination of Finance, Operations and Digital Technology would be considered an asset
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proven knowledge and application of technical and professional accounting principles and International Financial Reporting standards (IFRS).
• Proven knowledge and application of technical and professional risk management, digital technology, operational and change management strategies, principles and practices.
• Solid knowledge of the regulatory environment impacting and governing the financial services sector.
• Financial Acumen and expertise with financial accounting systems, platforms and services.
• Strong data science, analysis and model building skills.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and client relationship management skills.
• Strong critical, analytical and reasoning ability coupled with decisiveness and efficiency.
• A high level of confidentiality and integrity with the ability to establish credibility.
• The ability to work effectively with multi-faceted teams and multiple stakeholders.
