POSITION OBJECTIVE

To receive, store, transport, pick, and distribute merchandise accurately and efficiently within the warehouse and yard environment, in strict accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality control standards, and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations. The role also includes the safe and responsible operation of forklifts and material handling equipment to support warehouse and operational activities.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Receiving, Storage & Material Handling:

•        Receive incoming merchandise and verify quantities and condition against delivery documentation.

•        Safely unload, transport, and store goods in designated warehouse or yard locations using forklifts and other approved equipment where required.

•        Ensure proper stacking, storage, and stock rotation to prevent damage and facilitate easy retrieval.

•        Identify, label, and segregate damaged or non-conforming goods in the designated area for further evaluation and disposal.

•        Ensure that damaged or defective goods are not dispatched to customers unless formally authorized.

Forklift Operations:

•        Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with Company procedures and OSH requirements.

•        Conduct daily pre-use inspections of forklifts and report defects, malfunctions, or maintenance concerns immediately.

•        Ensure loads are properly balanced, secured, and transported safely to avoid injury, damage, or loss.

•        Follow all designated traffic routes, speed limits, and safety procedures within the compound and warehouse areas.

•        Ensure forklifts are properly parked, shut down, and secured at the end of operations.

Picking, Dispatch & Inventory Support:

•        Accurately pick, stage, and prepare goods for dispatch in accordance with invoices, delivery notes, and SOPs.

•        Assist with loading and offloading deliveries while ensuring proper handling and securing of goods.

•        Support inventory control activities including stock counts, cycle counts, stock organization, and stock movement.

•        Report inventory discrepancies, shortages, damaged stock, or operational concerns promptly to the Supervisor.

Safety, Quality & Compliance:

•        Operate at all times in compliance with:

o Warehouse SOPs
o Quality Control systems
o Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental (OSHE) procedures

•        Properly use and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, reflective vests, and safety boots.

•        Ensure all tools, equipment, forklifts, and machinery are safely shut down, locked off, and stored correctly at the end of each workday.

•        Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, damages, or near misses.

Housekeeping & Equipment Care:

•        Maintain clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas at all times.

•        Ensure aisles, storage racks, loading areas, and workstations remain free from obstruction.

•        Handle equipment and tools responsibly and report faults or damage promptly.

•        Assist in maintaining warehouse and yard organization standards.

General Responsibilities:

•        Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving materials as required.

•        Communicate effectively with Supervisors and team members regarding workflow, safety matters, and task completion.

•        Assist customers and delivery personnel where required in a professional and courteous manner.

•        Perform any other related duties assigned in support of warehouse and operational activities.

PHYSICAL & FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

•        Good manual dexterity, vision, and hearing.

•        Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver materials safely.

•        Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely and efficiently.

•        Ability to work in a warehouse and outdoor yard environment, including standing for extended periods and working in varying weather conditions where applicable.
