Job Summary:

The Laboratory Technician will support daily sampling, testing, and analysis of various product streams within a laboratory environment. The role involves both field and laboratory-based activities, ensuring accurate data collection, compliance with established testing methods, and adherence to quality standards.

The position requires working with hydrocarbon-based samples and laboratory equipment, supporting operational demands, and contributing to efficient laboratory performance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sampling of feed, product, and intermediate streams at plant, dock, or external locations as required
  • Perform testing and analysis using approved test methods, procedures, and guidelines
  • Prepare Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Compile and maintain data in accordance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
  • Support sampling and testing activities related to ongoing projects
  • Assist with the preparation and updating of laboratory procedures and work instructions
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, analyzers, composite samplers, and moisture systems
  • Operate laboratory equipment both in the lab and in field environments


Work Environment:

  • Combination of laboratory and field-based work
  • May involve working at heights and in various plant or external locations
  • Regular interaction with hydrocarbons and chemicals
  • Work may be performed across 12-hour shift operations


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in sampling, testing, maintenance, and report documentation
  • Technician’s Diploma in a laboratory or quality-related discipline
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from an accredited institution
  • OR Diploma in Chemical Engineering


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of laboratory testing and sampling processes
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards is an asset
  • Ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate records
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
