The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of daily operations. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong logistics, team management, and customer service skills.  This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations and services.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Coordinate with team leaders to ensure timely and effective services.
  • Monitor and analyse operational performance to identify areas for improvement.

Fleet Management:

  • Manage the maintenance and servicing of the vehicle fleet to optimise efficiency, ensure safety, and reliability.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for parts & consumables procurement and maintenance services.
  • Implement a robust tracking system for vehicle usage, maintenance schedules, and fuel consumption.
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operations staff, including drivers, banksmen, handymen, maintenance personnel, and administrative support.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members, and maintain accountability. 
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation. Discipline the team when required. 
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.

Customer Service:

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by maintaining service quality and promptly addressing customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Implement customer feedback mechanisms to improve service delivery continually.

HSE & Compliance & Risk Management 

  • Ensure that operations comply with  policies and procedures and the laws of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago
  • Conduct regular audits of documentation to mitigate risks and ensure compliance is maintained.
  • Plan, implement, monitor, and improve Divisional HSE performance following CERL Policies & Procedures.
  • Continually assess the workplace for potential hazards, identify hazards, and implement controls
  • Conduct and or participate in accident and incident investigations and document.
  • Perform Risk assessments
  • Ensure Toolbox meetings are carried out and documented
  • Ensure all regulatory & third-party vehicle inspections are coordinated and achieved to maintain compliance
  • Ensure all regulatory permits are up to date to maintain continuous operations. Ensure all third-party inspections are current. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory and standard changes to ensure the company remains compliant

 

Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the operations budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimisation.
  • Analyse reports to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate billing and financial reporting.

Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans for business growth and expansion.
  • Identify new business opportunities and partnerships to enhance service offerings.
  • Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact.


    Working Conditions:
  • The Operations Manager will primarily work onsite but must also regularly visit operational sites and interact with field staff. The role may involve occasional travel to meet with clients or attend industry conferences. The position requires flexibility to address operational issues outside of regular business hours.


    Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role. 
  • Microsoft 365 proficient.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge for both Heavy and Light vehicles.
  • Should possess strong leadership and organisational skills, with experience in logistics, understanding of regulatory requirements and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential for coordinating with teams and clients.
  • Problem-solving abilities and proficiency in data analysis are essential for optimising operations.
