Job Title: Pawn Clerk

Location: Port of Spain
 
Job role:
The Pawn Clerk provides frontline customer service interaction to all pawnshop clients. This includes helping customers with purchases, pawning and redeeming jewelry items, testing jewelry items, issuing pawn contracts and receipts and ensuring accurate recording of all pawn transactions in accordance with industry laws and standards.

These records can include items received by customers, outstanding loans with upcoming due dates, interest records for customers who extended the terms of their loans, and detailed pawn transaction reports.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures preparedness for daily operations by putting out and picking up transaction books/ledgers
  • Acts as the first line of customer contact for processing pawn or redeem customer jewellery items.
  • Appraises customer jewellery by testing jewellery for genuineness.
  • Completes JP forms for customers who have lost original receipts/tickets.
  • Ensures correct customer information is recorded on jewelry contracts.
  • Maintains proper record keeping by correctly entering customer information in transaction books/ledgers.
  • Assists with the general functioning of the office i.e. answering phones, taking messages, placing orders etc.
  • Any Other duties assigned


Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Five CXC O’ levels including Math and English (min Grade 3 level) Relevant experience in a similar function shall be considered in absence of this.
  • Min. one years’ experience in a customer service environment.
  • Certificate of Good Character
  • Proficient computer skills required (Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient telephone protocol
  • Ability to use good judgment in confidential situations
  • High degree of professionalism
