The Production Worker Level 1 will assist with the day-to-day production and packaging activities to ensure products are prepared, processed, packaged, and stored efficiently and according to company quality and safety standards. The successful candidate will operate basic production equipment, prepare raw materials, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and assist the production team in meeting daily production targets.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation of raw materials and ingredients for production.
Follow established production procedures, recipes, and work instructions.
Operate basic production and packaging equipment after receiving appropriate training.
Assist with measuring, weighing, mixing, filling, labeling, sealing, and packaging products.
Inspect products and packaging for quality, appearance, quantity, and defects.
Ensure products are properly labeled, dated, sealed, and packaged.
Assist with loading and unloading raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products.
Maintain accurate production counts and complete required production records.
Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures where applicable.
Monitor production materials and report shortages or damaged materials to the supervisor.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary production area.
Clean and sanitize equipment, workstations, utensils, and production areas according to company procedures.
Follow food safety, hygiene, occupational health, and safety requirements.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working.
Report equipment malfunctions, product defects, spills, hazards, or safety concerns to the supervisor.
Assist with stock counts and inventory checks when required.
Work with other production staff to meet daily production targets and deadlines.
Follow proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of materials and waste.
Assist with general warehouse and production duties when required.
Perform other duties assigned by the Production Supervisor or Management.
Requirements
Previous experience in food production, manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, or a similar environment is an asset.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Good attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent product quality.
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Physically capable of lifting, carrying, and moving materials within safe working limits.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
Willingness to learn and follow established production procedures.
Strong awareness of workplace health and safety.
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, or overtime when required.
Ability to maintain good personal hygiene and cleanliness in a production environment.
Qualifications
A minimum of Five CXC/CSEC
English Language and Mathematics would be an asset.
Previous training or experience in Food Handling, Food Safety, Manufacturing, Production, or Occupational Health & Safety would be beneficial.
Food Badge
Previous experience in a food manufacturing or processing environment would be advantageous.
