Key Responsibilities:

• Provide courteous and timely customer service.

• Process sales transactions.

• Ringing up the cost of products on the company’s cash register.

• Has a working knowledge of product codes, company return policies and current store specials to ensure that customers pay the appropriate amount for each item they purchase.

• Answer customer questions about prices, products and services offered by the company.

• To enter accurate information in the payment terminal, wrap up purchases.

• Calculate and return change when required by the payment method.

• To maintain adequate change denominations in the cash drawer and request additional change so as not to negatively affect customer service.

• Reconcile cash drawers and sales receipts.

• Report issues with equipment.

• Cleans and restocks front end storage units with front end products as directed or needed.

• Rotate store products at the front end in accordance with department policies and product code dates.

• Assist the team with maintaining adequately stocked shelves, chillers, freezers, etc when needed.

• Assist the team with ensuring store cleanliness and clean, uncluttered register spaces.

• Follow the necessary department procedures for damaged and spoiled products.

• To follow all handling merchandise policies of the company to ensure that the merchandise is accounted for, in instances of employee purchases, broken, dented, and expired products.

• Part take in stock take on a monthly basis.

• Perform any other related duties as assigned by a Supervisor or the Store Manager.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Four CXC passes with the demonstrative ability to read and write.
  • Two years’ work experience in Customer Service in the Retail Food Industry.
  • Experience in the field of supermarket or grocery store operations would be considered an asset.
  • Two (2) valid recommendations. 

 

Skills:

  • Customer Service oriented.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able to pay attention to details.
  • The ability to stoop, bend, reach and lift front end related products and goods.
  • Meets physical requirements to perform the job functions herein above listed.
  • Ability to operate on a shift basis and able to work weekends.
