Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
Support the Maintenance Team and plant operations by performing daily maintenance and equipment improvements to effectively meet the Department’s operational goals in safety, reliability, uptime, efficiency and cost.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Perform inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment within specified timeframes to precision maintenance standards.
- Repair, replace or remove mechanical components using precision maintenance techniques.
- Rebuild machinery assemblies/components to manufacturers standards and specifications, and/or to precision maintenance standards.
- Perform machine installations, upgrades and modifications with support from both in-house and contracted personnel.
- Perform alignment of equipment to precision standards.
- Identify spare parts and sub-assemblies needed to support corrective and preventative maintenance activities and recommend the respective inventory control levels.
- Troubleshoot and take corrective action for “break-in” jobs.
- Analyse issues and develop solutions to reduce occurrences of unplanned equipment shutdowns.
- Provide training on precision maintenance to other team members when required.
- Assist in scoping and planning of jobs.
- Perform general plumbing repairs and installations.
- Ensure proper housekeeping with routine cleaning of the shop area as well as cleanliness of the machines and equipment, in line with company standards.
- Complete any documentation as required by the department.
- Contribute to the overall performance and efficiency of the Maintenance Department.
- Attend Department or other company meetings as required.
- Report any unsafe acts immediately to your Direct Supervisor; operate in a safe manner, using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
- Execute all relevant responsibilities as outlined in the Roles, Responsibilities and Authorities Matrix (MT-GM-004) to ensure compliance with the IMS.
- Perform any other related duties that may be assigned.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- A minimum of five (5) O’Level / CSEC passes including Mathematics and English
- MET Certificate or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in industrial maintenance or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with reading and understanding drawings and handling measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of job planning, scoping and schedule compliance.
- Ability to install bearings on various equipment utilizing precision maintenance techniques.
- Working knowledge of lubrication principles.
- Ability to select suitable tools for tasks assigned.
