Position: Process Engineer

Duration: 12 months

Department: Engineering

Supervisor: Lead Engineer/Project Lead

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Project Lead or Lead Engineer, the Engineer is to provide Process Engineering expertise during technical evaluations and project development and execution works. The position must show evidence of a sound understanding of Process Engineering principles, design and practices and application of the same. In addition, the Process Engineer will work closely with the Project Lead/Lead Engineer to ensure that the applicable codes and standards are adhered to during engineering design at the different project stages. The position must also show evidence of a sound understanding of Process Safety Management practices.

Specific Accountabilities:
  1. Provides Process engineering expertise to the Project Lead/Lead Engineer and the project team for all stages of engineering (Conceptual, pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Engineering) and execution works.
  2. Conducts quality assurance reviews of engineering design works including Pre-FEED, FEED and detail engineering, ensuring that the design is safe and conforms to applicable codes and standards as well as engineering best practices.
  3. Develop engineering projects in accordance with PPGPL’s stage gate process, ensuring compliance with engineering designs, codes, and standards (e.g., API, NFPAs) and technical specifications.
  4. Complete all deliverables required at each stage gate (e.g., Risk Assessments, Gate Review Packages and Presentations) in the development of projects.
  5. Reviews recommendations arising from the Facility Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and conducts technical evaluations and analysis for the close-off of the recommendations.
  6. Reviews recommendations related to Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) and Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF) arising from the Facility Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and conducts technical evaluations and analysis for the close-off of these recommendations. 
  7. Provides Process engineering expertise to the Project Lead/Lead Engineer in the review of Bid Tender Evaluations and the request for bid clarifications.
  8. Provides Process engineering advice and expertise in the development of technical Scope of Works.
  9. Leads or participates in project review meetings e.g. P&ID Review, Hazop and Constructability Review
  10. Leads or participates in Risk Assessments including JSRAs, What-Ifs and Contingency Planning

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor of Science in Process and Chemical Engineering
  2. At least 10 years of Process engineering in a project or engineering design environment.

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
  • Computer Literate.
  • Functional knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Sound Interpersonal skills
  • Good communications skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Good Project Management skills
  • Good Problem solving and Decision-making analytical skill
  • Proven experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment  Proven experience in understanding and interpreting technical specifications, engineering drawings and designs.
  • Proven experience in the application of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles
  • Proven experience in understanding, interpreting, and applying relevant standards.
