Description

• Interpreting technical specifications, project requitements, architectural and engineering drawings to create detailed fabrication and construction drawings for steel structures
• Creating detailed drawings of steel members, including size, shape, and location, as well as any holes, cuts, or other features.
• Creating detailed drawings of connections between steel members, including the type and size of bolts, welds, and other fasteners.
• Collaborating with engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure that steel components are designed and fabricated to meet project specifications and safety standards
• Reviewing and checking the accuracy and completeness of shop and erection drawings, ensuring compliance with design and engineering specifications.
• Ensuring that drafts adhere to relevant standards, building codes and quality controls.
• Creating and maintaining a detailed material list, including sizes, quantities, and specifications of all steel components.
• Communicating with the steel fabricator and the contractor to ensure that the steel components are fabricated and assembled correctly.
• Ability to use industry-specific software, such as TEKLA & AutoCAD, to create detailed drawings and models.
• Keeping records of revisions, project changes and other updates to the drawings.

• Understanding of steel structures, material properties and the fabrication process
• Understanding of Engineering Principles
• Strong understanding of principles of dimensioning and tolerancing used in engineering drawings
• Proficiency in detailing steel components, including connections, supports and assembly details
• Ability to create and interpret technical drawings for steel structures using CAD software (AutoCAD, Tekla, etc.)
• Knowledge of safety and compliance

• Technical or Vocational Certificate
• An Associate’s Degree (optional but beneficial)
• Basic CAD Software Proficiency
• CAD related Certification would be preferred
• Prior experience would be an asset

• Reports directly to Senior Draughtsman
• Provides support to Project Engineers, Project Managers, Technical Directors and Operations Manager

• Corporate Office located at 48 – 49 Frederick Settlement Industrial Estate, Caroni
• Working hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday (may be required to work outside of regular hours when circumstances demand it)
• May be required to participate in site visits (off-site)
• Ensures that professionalism is displayed at all times

• Provide additional support as delegated by the Steel Detailer or Management Team
