Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) manages a major fuel-efficient power plant in Trinidad and Tobago. The 720-megawatt (MW) TGU facility is a combined-cycle power plant which is owned by the National Investment Fund Holding Company Limited (NIFHCL), the latter is a wholly owned entity of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GoRTT). The plant is located at the Union Industrial Estate, La Brea and supported by a Corporate Office in Chaguanas.

The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and compliance frameworks within the organisation. The incumbent will be expected to support the development and implementation of compliance strategies aimed at mitigating risk and promoting ethical standards. The Compliance Officer will also be responsible for providing guidance on compliance and whistleblowing issues and assist in fostering a culture of integrity and accountability across all levels of the organisation.

Job Responsibilities

•Assists in maintaining the Compliance Monitoring Program to ensure the organisation’s adherence to SEPMM requirements and other relevant agreements (e.g., PPA, OEM, Indenture).

•Supports the Compliance Manager with the conducting of preliminary investigations on reports received via the Whistle-Blowing Channel or otherwise.

•Performs and reports on Compliance Policy Spot Checks to determine adherence and identify any potential areas for improvements.

•Supports the Compliance Manager with the maintenance and review of TGU’s Policy and Procedure Library on an annual basis to determine organisational needs based on performance.

•Supports the Compliance Manager with the review of organisational Policies and Procedures developed/amended via TGU’s Policy Review, Amendment and Implementation Process.

•Maintains an up-to-date compliance resource library, accessible to employees for reference and guidance on compliance-related queries.

•Remains up to date on national laws related to the organisation and updates relevant documents/policies accordingly.

•Supports the development of Compliance Metrics and applicable systems for monitoring them.

 

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience 

•Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

•A recognised certification in Compliance or Governance (e.g. Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional) is preferred.

•Ability to interpret complex policies and regulatory documents.

•3-5 years’ experience in the supporting/working with an ethics reporting program.

•Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

•Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
