Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) manages a major fuel-efficient power plant in Trinidad and Tobago. The 720-megawatt (MW) TGU facility is a combined-cycle power plant which is owned by the National Investment Fund Holding Company Limited (NIFHCL), the latter is a wholly owned entity of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GoRTT). The plant is located at the Union Industrial Estate, La Brea and supported by a Corporate Office in Chaguanas.
The ICT Desktop Application Support role is constructed to assist the ICT department inexecuting a variety of activities across the organisation. The primary responsibility of the incumbent is to provide efficient technical support, troubleshooting, timely reporting and maintenance services. This includes resolving software issues and offering general ICT support to business users, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operation of desktop applications and systems. The role is instrumental in maintaining user satisfaction and operational efficiency by addressing and resolving technical challenges promptly and effectively.
Job responsibilities:
• Installing PCs, laptops, printers, telephone, and peripherals
• Software/business application installation and troubleshooting
• Diagnosing and correcting desktop/laptop applications (productivity suite)
• Configuring laptops, desktops for standard applications
• Identifying and correcting end user hardware problems
• Software and hardware purchases as needed.
• Coordinating issues with SLA providers.
• Document preparation and testing for software/hardware development and enhancement.
• Roll-out and support of operational ICT activities.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all TGU’s information technology related assets to make available to TGU ICT staff when required.
• Prepare and issue required reports as required to support operations of theDepartment.
• Supporting and executing assigned ICT Projects
• Managing technical tasks related to specific project deliverables
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience (minimum 3 years) in delivering ICT infrastructure and application support.
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• Knowledge of first level server/back-office support (O365, Active Directory,
File/Server shares)
• Experience (minimum 2 years) in VMWare enterprise environment
• Microsoft MCSE or similar certification
• Experience with Power BI (or similar tool), SharePoint and Microsoft SQL Database
• Experience with security appliances or enterprise Firewall management
• Have knowledge of Cisco Networking environment or pursuing certifications
