JOB SUMMARY
The Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) & Corporate Shared Services Officer reports to the HSSE Manager and is responsible for the implementation, coordination, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Company’s HSSE programmes. The HSSE & Corporate Shared Services Officer supports compliance with legislative requirements, internal standards, and industry best practices, with a strong emphasis on operational execution, field oversight, reporting, and crossfunctional coordination.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Deliver service excellence daily in keeping with Amplia Communications’ Customer Service Philosophy.
• Implement approved HSSE policies, procedures, programmes, and initiatives in accordance with legislative requirements and company standards.
• Take all practicable measures to support adherence to relevant local legislation, internal HSSE requirements, and external standards, including site inspections, audits, training, and programme execution.
• Conduct routine and ad hoc HSSE inspections, audits, and risk assessments across office and field operations.
• Identify hazards and support the development and implementation of risk mitigation and corrective action plans.
• Support the achievement and continuous monitoring of HSSE-related KPIs, providing timely updates and reports.
• Support the investigation of HSSE incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions in accordance with approved procedures.
• Assist with the development, tracking, and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain HSSE records, logs, and registers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and traceability.
• Prepare HSSE reports within agreed timelines, including inspection findings, incident trends, audits, risk assessments, and compliance updates.
• Support the delivery and coordination of HSSE training, inductions, tool-box talks, and awareness sessions for employees and contractors.
• Deliver HSSE presentations at company, client, and contractor meetings (e.g. HSE Moments, visitor briefings, contractor orientations).
• Promote and support the development of a strong HSSE culture, encouraging safe behaviours and continuous improvement.
Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of HSSE management systems (e.g. SMS, STOW, environmental and security-related elements).
• Ensure HSSE documentation, procedures, and records are current, controlled, and disseminated in accordance with document management protocols.
• Maintain working knowledge of applicable HSSE legislation, codes of practice, and industry
developments.
• Provide general administrative and operational support to Facilities and other Corporate Shared Services functions as assigned, in support of efficient day-to-day operations.
• Assist with coordination of facilities-related activities, schedules, service requests, and follow ups, as required.
• Provide logistical and administrative support for meetings, inspections, site visits, and internal reviews linked to facilities and shared services functions.
• Support cross-functional coordination between Facilities, Shared Services teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of the environmental aspects of HSSE, including audits and improvement initiatives.
• Provide support with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Loss Control initiatives, as required.
• Work collaboratively with internal departments, Facilities teams, and assigned Shared Services functions to support organizational objectives.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field, or relevant professional HSSE certification.
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in an HSSE or operational safety role, preferably within telecommunications, utilities, construction, or a related environment.
• Working knowledge of OSH legislation, HSSE standards, and industry best practices.
• Must have a valid Trinidad and Tobago Driver’s License and vehicle in good working condition.
• Strong attention to detail and record-keeping capability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
