Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented OSHA Officer to oversee occupational health and safety. This role is critical in ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient working environment by implementing and monitoring safety protocols in accordance with the Trinidad and Tobago OSH Act, as well as internal company policies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in hazard identification, employee training, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance, particularly in environments involving machinery and chemical use.
Key Responsibilities:
● Develop & Implement Safety Programs, tailored to our facility’s unique environment.
● Conduct Regular Inspections by identifying risks in facility layout, equipment, and work practices.
● Train employees on safe chemical handling, equipment operation, PPE usage, and emergency procedures.
● Investigate accidents or near misses, generate reports, and propose corrective actions.
● Ensure correct labeling, signage, storage, and handling of chemicals and cleaning agents.
● Monitor availability and functionality of safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and spill kits.
● Collaborate with management to evaluate hazards and implement appropriate controls.
● Stay updated on the OSH Act compliance and other relevant safety regulations, both local and international.
● Serve as the primary point of contact during regulatory safety inspections.
● Any other related duties.
Educational Requirements:
● Certification in Occupational Safety and Health (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA 30/OSHA 1926, or equivalent).
● Knowledge of the Trinidad and Tobago OSH Act.
● Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health and safety role, preferably in an industrial, automotive, or chemical-handling environment.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
● CPR/First Aid certification.
