Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) manages a major fuel-efficient power plant in Trinidad and Tobago. The 720-megawatt (MW) TGU facility is a combined-cycle power plant which is owned by the National Investment Fund Holding Company Limited (NIFHCL), the latter is a wholly owned entity of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GoRTT). The plant is located at the Union Industrial Estate, La Brea and supported by a Corporate Office in Chaguanas.


This position will develop project schedules and scheduling of Work Orders for both Planned Outages and Capital Projects. During the project execution the incumbent will update the project schedule and provide information as it relates to project progress in comparison to the plan. Work order creation and modification will also be performed by this position. The Project Scheduler is an important resource to assist with the tracking and monitoring of all projects.

 

Job responsibilities:

• Plan all assigned maintenance work activities according to TGU’s quality standard work package requirements.

• Review and follow-up daily or more frequently work requested and backlog work in Maximo according to their status and priority.

• Facilitate Planning and Scheduling Meetings and other planning related meetings as required.

• Accurately complete all fields required for each work order according to the standard process, procedures and approved documentation. Periodically review to check compliance.

• Follow-through to ensure timely delivery of materials and services as required per work orders. Where required, verify the materials or equipment state at the warehouse/workshop or offsite locations.

• Initiation and follow-through of the job safety analyses and risk assessments.

• Audit jobs in progress to ensure planning accuracy.

• Review with the Job Supervisor, the work packages in order to have compliance with the HSE and quality requirements and assure the timely approval of these work packs.

• Review and manage Maximo status on a regular basis to ensure consistency and accuracy of the information contained.

• Provide maintenance data for the development of the Long-Term Plan and contribute to the safe effective delivery of the long term planned maintenance activities.

• Confirm that all documents required to execute the tasks are included in the approved work package before scheduling.

• Responsible for review of completed work orders to capture learnings or deviations from the planned work package.

• Responsible for distributing all lessons learned during execution as well as to develop preventive or corrective actions as required.

• Present the required reports regarding the status of work packs, planning jobs and parts and equipment requested.

• Coordinate with the Operations and Maintenance departments to manage the backlog work orders within the agreed KPIs.

• Prepare scope of works, facilitate site visits and bid evaluation for small projects as assigned.

• Assist the Planning and Projects Engineer in Outage Planning.

• Maintaining electronic and hard copy records as necessary for compliance with the Asset Management system.

• Update all and maintain the MOC, TIL, and Contractor Management system.

• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Planning and Projects Engineer and Team Leader to support the function.

• Perform other related duties to support the achievement of the company’s goals and objectives

 

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.

• Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a power plant environment (or related industry) five (5) of which must be specialising in planning and/or scheduling of maintenance work or projects.

• Project Management certificate will be an asset.
