JOB OVERVIEW
The Facility Technician will support the delivery of the team’s maintenance activities in a Supervisory capacity.
This role requires occasional emergency callouts. including weekends.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This role will include a variety of tasks including the following:
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and structural).
• Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Execute preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules and manufacturer guidelines.
• Respond to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies to minimize downtime and ensure safety.
• Monitor and maintain building infrastructure, including lighting, pumps, motors, generators, fire‑safety systems, and access control systems.
• Ensure all equipment and systems operate within required performance and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and completed repairs.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and on‑the‑job training to junior technicians.
• Assist in coordinating daily work assignments and ensuring tasks are completed to standard.
• Support the Facilities Manager in evaluating team performance and identifying skill gaps.
• Assist with supervising external contractors performing specialized work.
• Verify that work is completed according to scope, safety requirements, and quality expectations.
• Provide technical input during procurement of materials, equipment, and contracted services.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSH, regulatory requirements, and company safety policies.
• Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency response procedures.
• Maintain proper documentation for compliance and regulatory inspections.
• Track and maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables.
• Recommend upgrades, replacements, or improvements to building systems and equipment.
• Support asset lifecycle planning and budgeting for maintenance activities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• EEET
• Wireman’s Licenses
• Minimum four (5) years' experience related field
The following will be an asset:
• Fire Alarm and Detection Systems.
• Electrical Installation.
• Commercial HVAC Systems.
• Valid Heavy T driver’s license
• PLEA/UKOG
• Experience working in commercial setting.
