The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for planning, organizing, receiving, storing, and dispatching warehouse goods. The incumbent will oversee the enforcement of all warehouse procedures and practices and will be responsible for the warehouse and all other areas where materials are stored.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Warehouse Operations

                        i.         Manage the employees within the steel & lumber yard and ensure staff comply with all rules and regulations.

                       ii.         Coordinate and dispatch customers’ goods based on the invoice

                     iii.         Oversee the receiving, storing, and dispatching of stock to ensure all activities are completed efficiently and effectively

                     iv.         Ensure that trucks are loaded the day before for effective and efficient delivery for the next day when necessary

                       v.         Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

                     vi.         Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining KPIs for efficiency

                    vii.         Ensure all operations are conducted safely and in compliance with SOP

                  viii.         Meet with the manager to plan work schedules and assign tasks to optimize productivity effectively

                     ix.         Assist the checker with customer bills by ensuring the load matches the invoice

  1. Stock Management and Replenishment

                        i.         Coordinate the offloading of containers following best practices and SOP

                       ii.         Ensure that the daily requisition for stock is submitted to the purchasing department on time

                     iii.         All incoming stock must be physically checked

                     iv.         Ensure that products are safely stored in designated locations, implementing best practices for optimizing warehouse layout and space utilization.

                       v.         Ensure that damaged goods are placed in an appropriate area for further evaluation and disposal

  1. Quality Assurance

                        i.         Conduct spot checks of items on shelves to verify secure storage and proper labeling

                       ii.         Ensure all surplus deliveries are promptly returned and reported to the Purchasing Manager

                     iii.         Record and report all damaged local goods to the Purchasing Manager within seven (7) days of receipt.

                     iv.         Inspect the physical condition of the warehouse and equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards

                       v.         Ensure that drivers and operators complete the relevant checklist before using trucks or forklifts

                     vi.         Coordinate the repairs, maintenance, and service of the company’s vehicles and other equipment with the fleet manager

                    vii.         Turn off and lock off all equipment when not in use and ensure proper storage at the close of the business day

                  viii.         Ensure all vehicles are refueled at the end of the day

                     ix.         Monitor and maintain the diesel tank and its usage

  1. Team Leadership and Safety Compliance

                        i.         Coordinate and supervise racking and storing activities in collaboration with warehouse personnel

                       ii.         Plan, execute, and evaluate training for all employees within the steel & lumber yard

                     iii.         Ensure all equipment operators are certified and that unauthorized personnel are not allowed to operate company equipment

                     iv.         Ensure all warehouse employees are properly attired, including the required personal protective equipment (PPE)

                       v.         Ensure that anyone visiting the warehouse is properly attired in the required PPE

                     vi.         Address non-compliance with safety and dress code policies through appropriate disciplinary actions

  1. Warehouse Maintenance and Health & Safety

                        i.         Maintain an orderly and clean warehouse environment

                       ii.         Promote a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing company health & safety procedures


Qualification, Education, Experience

  • Associate degree in Warehousing and Inventory, Business Administration or a related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar or related field;
  • Proficient experience in the construction or hardware industry will be an asset
  • Working knowledge of inventory management will be an asset
  • Certification in Health and Safety will be an asset
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work on Saturdays
  • CIPS certification (level 2 or 3) 
  • License to operate a forklift
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management will be as asset
