Department: Health, Safety, Security and the Environment (HSSE)
Job Purpose:
The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor is responsible for implementing and coordinating site specific Health, Safety and Environment requirements. The HSE Advisor operates in a cross functional setting to support the delivery of Routine, Turnaround (TAR) and specialized plant activities. The job holder also ensures that all work is carried out in accordance with established safe work practices (SWP) and procedures.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Delivers daily HSE tactical support to the organization to ensure all HSE requirements are met.
- Develops and reviews HSE procedures/policies as required, to ensure adherence to legislative requirements and best practices.
- Supports the organization in implementation of the Risk Assessment process.
- Performs HSE audits and inspections to ensure conformance with HSE Management System requirements and compliance with applicable legislation.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in Natural Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or related discipline from a recognized, accredited institution with a minimum of five (5) years related work experience.
- A National Technician’s Diploma in a relevant field, or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Management, or equivalent with a minimum of eight (8) years related experience.
- Working knowledge of Trinidad & Tobago Occupational Safety & Health Act (TT OSH Act), Trinidad & Tobago Environmental Management Act (TT EM Act) and subsidiary legislation.
- NEBOSH Level III Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent will be an asset.
- Experience in implementing HSEQ Management Systems (ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 or IS 9001) will be an asset.
