Description
- Coordinate the preparation of the company’s management accounts in accordance with established and approved schedules
- Review and approve Bank Reconciliations, journal entries, payment vouchers, payroll entries, and petty cash vouchers, and ensure these are accurately and timely posted so that the organization’s cash management position remains healthy at all times
- Ensure the preparation, analysis, reconciliation, and maintenance of General Ledger accounts
- Responsible for the reconciliation of Balance Sheet items, analyzing financial information and summarizing the financial status of the organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS
- Monitor local bank balances on a daily basis and ensure cash flow statements are prepared and actioned as scheduled
- Review the local accounts payable report and ensure that payments are made on a timely basis
- Compute Corporate taxes, VAT, levies, and surcharges, prepare returns, and ensure payments are submitted as required.
- Raise monthly invoices to subsidiaries
- Preparation of P&L schedules for audits and external requests
- Responsible for the management and maintenance of the Fixed Asset Schedule, ensuring that registers reflect accurately in line with accounting policies and procedures
- Perform other related duties as required by the job function.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer
- Supervise Accounting Assistant – AP, Senior Financial Analyst, Accounts receivable Accountant, Cashier and Payroll Officers
- Liaise internally with department heads and externally with customers, suppliers, and regulatory and statutory bodies.
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
The incumbent should possess sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals, principles, practices, and procedures, a thorough understanding of the institutional, regulatory, and governmental framework in which the company operates, well-developed calculative, diagnostic, and computer skills, interpretative judgment, working knowledge of the company’s financial/accounting policies and effective interpersonal and management skills.
- ACCA, or equivalent level together with at least five years post-qualification experience in a similar or related job function.
