Job Purpose:
Our growing organization in the Food Service is seeking an experienced candidate for the position of Reconciliation Clerk. The incumbent will responsible for business accounts to a source document using the detailed transactions/data included in the account. Reconciliation aims to identify errors that have caused the account balance to be erroneous or to prove that the account balance is correct. 
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Account Reconciliation:
    • Reconcile the balance of business accounts to source documents, ensuring accuracy by analyzing detailed transactions and data.
    • Identify and resolve errors that have caused discrepancies in account balances.
  • Data Verification and Analysis:
    • Verify and reconcile various financial records, including bank deposits, payments, and customer ledger accounts.
    • Conduct physical cycle counts of inventory and verify accuracy.
  • Reconciliation Duties:
    • Performs all duties within reconciliation and is prepared to discuss open reconciliation issues with management.
    • Compares account balances to source documents to identify potential errors.
    • Runs general ledger and sub-ledger reports, and vendors' account reports.
    • Reconciles and verifies bank deposits and payments.
    • Prepares erroneous transaction reports.
    • Prepares and enters adjusting journal entries to correct account balances.
  • Compliance and Standards:
    • Ensures all Balance Sheet accounts have an analysis schedule.
    • Assists with the preparation of Audit Schedules and during the audit process.
    • Adheres to corporate standards and procedures in reconciliation clerical activities.
  • Communication and Reporting:
    • Communicate with internal and external customers to resolve discrepancies and provide updates.
    • Prepare and issue financial statements, reports, and analyses supporting month-end/quarter-end financials.
  • Operational Tasks:
    • Perform daily data entry, maintain records, and ensure follow-up actions as necessary.
    • Use computer systems for data entry, word processing, and spreadsheet management.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide excellent customer service by responding to queries and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of reconciliation processes.
  • Industry Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with relevant accounting principles, standards, and regulations that apply to the industry and organization[Your provided list].

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and handle multiple tasks and deadlines[Your provided list].
 
Additional Requirements:

Qualification and Experience:
  • Education:
    • Typically, an Associate's degree or a High School diploma in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in an accounting or business environment, preferably in a role involving general ledger reconciliation.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • Proficiency in computer systems, particularly in terminal data entry, word processing, and spreadsheet skills.
    • Good understanding and working knowledge of Excel.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

While not mandatory, certifications in accounting will be seen as an asset. This role focuses on error prevention and compliance and the list below are the critical areas will used to measure effectiveness
