Description
ROLE OVERVIEW:
Responsible for bookkeeping duties, recording transactions/data entry, preparation of bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general office assistance as required. This role is key to support the Finance Lead through problem solving, analyzing challenges, providing solutions, and completing tasks in a timely manner.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports to the Finance Lead
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bookkeeping and Finance
A/P:
- Code and key accounts payable for, and process timely payments by cheque, online and credit card.
- Assist in preparation of GL reconciliations (A/P)
- Key and verify invoices using appropriate information and coding by division and cost code. Work with purchasing to enter all PO driven invoices.
- Balance statements from vendors.
- Assist in preparation of GL reconciliations (A/R)
- Maintain current A/R accounts. Investigate, adjust and resolve any outstanding balances.
- Process payments received by cheque, credit card, e-transfer, money order and cash.
- Assist with preparation of Bank Reconciliations, analysis of accounts and variances.
- Deposit cheques as posted to A/R.
- Perform financial data entry in Quickbooks Online.
- Research to assemble source documents to support transactions.
- Enter data for divisional budget and expenses.
- File and sort documents (paper and electronically, creating consolidated reports when necessary)
- Set up and disposal of assets, maintain depreciation schedule.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training however the candidate must have formal training in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Minimum 3-5 years previous experience in accounting data entry in a structured environment
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office and Project Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.
- Proficient with Quickbooks Online or similar accounting software
