Position Title: Junior Mechanical Engineer (Mill)

Department: Reliability & Projects

Division:Operations

Reports To: Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent (Mill)

Division Head: Director - Operations
 
POSITION SUMMARY
Provide support to the Maintenance Team to effectively meet the Department’s operational goals in safety, reliability, uptime, efficiency and cost.

RESPONSIBILITES
  1. Support the Maintenance Team daily, which includes job preparation, troubleshooting and resolving break ins in a timely manner, any other activity as required.
  2. Support the daily/shutdown planning and scheduling processes - preparing job scopes and methodology, resource requirements, requisitions, any other activity as required. 
  3. Complete projects (inclusive of documentation, presentation of results and final reports) within agreed timeframes as assigned.
  4. Analyze issues and develop solutions to resolve. Execute as required. 
  5. Gather data to/and perform root cause analysis to determine corrective and control actions to improve plant and equipment performance. Ensure corrective and control actions are executed within agreed timeframes.
  6. Lead jobs and supervise manpower as required. 
  7. Prepare and communicate updates and reports, attend meetings as required.
  8. Supervise the Maintenance Technicians during weekend and holiday duty (duty cycle). 
  9. Report outstanding issues and pending risks to the Supervisor / Superintendent.
  10. Adhere to, actively promote and ensure compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policies. 
  11. Actively participate in activities to build team spirit at every level of the organization.
  12. Identify and report unsafe operations and conditions; immediately bring unsafe acts to the attention of team members; operate in a safe manner, use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required. 
  13. Execute all relevant responsibilities as outlined in the Roles, Responsibilities and Authorities Matrix (MT-GM-004) to ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS).
  14. Perform any other related duties that may be assigned. 

EDUCATION & TRAINING
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or any other related discipline from a recognized institution.

EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting rotating equipment would be an asset
