Duties & Responsibilities:
- Greeting customers, understanding their needs, provide assistance, and ensuring a memorable shopping experience.
- Recommending and locating merchandise, explaining product features, promoting sales, and staying informed on promotions and policies. Maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, stocking shelves, managing inventory, processing returns, and handling special orders.
- Recognizing and preventing security risks, adhering to company policies, and ensuring occupational safety.
- Addressing customer inquiries, managing time effectively, and adapting to new information to improve service.
- Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
- Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.
- Tag, arrange and display merchandise to promote sales.
- Place special orders or call other stores to find desired items.
- Clean shelves, counters, products and tables.
- Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returns in accordance with company return policy.
- Ensure that shelves are always completely stocked and requisition new stock when necessary.
- Prepare merchandise for purchase.
- Estimate quantity and cost of merchandise required, such as paint or floor covering or tiles required for spaces.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Manage your time effectively and that of others.
- Actively look for ways to help customers
- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Must comply with all company rules and regulations and Occupational Safety & Health Rules.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
Qualification Requirements: Education and/or Experience
- Four CXC subjects including mathematics and English
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- Must be able to communicate orally and of a reasonable and customary temperament to work with internal and external customers
- Must have good manual dexterity, hearing and seeing abilities and be able to lift, pull or push as necessary.
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
- The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented orally or in writing.
- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to enter data, or process information.
- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form or in person.
