Description
The Inventory Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining inventory levels, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and supporting efficient stock control procedures. This role involves regular monitoring of inventory, coordinating with procurement and warehouse teams, and implementing best practices to minimize loss, overstock, or shortages.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, stock movements and physical inventory.
- Conduct regular stock audits, reconcile discrepancies and update all stock count adjustments.
- Monitor inventory transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Coordinate with the purchasing team to reorder stock as needed.
- Oversee the receipt, storage and issuance of goods.
- Upload production report forms and inventory requisitions on to Sage on a daily basis.
- Implement inventory control procedures and guidelines to optimize inventory accuracy.
- Generate reports on inventory status and variances, including weekly and monthly summaries.
- Identify and report slow-moving or obsolete stock.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure efficient storage and handling of items.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and quality standards in inventory management.
- Perform weekly and monthly inventory GL reconciliations ensuring accuracy and completeness.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the compliance of HSSE standards and practices and applicable legislation in the execution of duties.
- Attends departmental and company meetings when required.
- Participates in annual and periodic stock counts.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Minimum of 5 CSEC Passes inclusive of Mathematics & English.
- Certification in Supply Chain, Inventory Management or similar qualifications.
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience.
- Proven experience in inventory control, stock management, or related field.
- Proficient in inventory software (Sage).
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be physically able to lift 16 kgs (35.2 lbs) for females & 25 kgs (55 lbs) for males
