Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) manages a major fuel-efficient power plant in Trinidad and Tobago. The 720-megawatt (MW) TGU facility is a combined-cycle power plant which is owned by the National Investment Fund Holding Company Limited (NIFHCL), the latter is a wholly owned entity of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago (GoRTT). The plant is located at the Union Industrial Estate, La Brea and supported by a Corporate Office in Chaguanas. 

Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the following permanent position: 

The Finance manager is responsible for the development, maintenance and administration of the Company’s Finance and Accounting function.  Ensuring that integrity in the Financial Management Information System is maintained in a professional manner and in keeping with accounting standards and the company’s policies and practices for recording and reporting financial activity.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the Company including the management of credit, financial forecasting, budgets, financial trends and forecasts, consolidation, and timely and accurate analysis of budgets.

• Lead the development and continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives while monitoring the financial performance of the Company.

• Manage and report on organization wide budget variances and the associated impact assessments. 

• Maintain oversight of the investment portfolio and investment activities of the Company.

• Manage the financial impact of key business activities and opportunities. 

• Prepare, review and analyse the Company’s financial statements.

• Prepare and present budgets for approval in accordance with the company’s approval process and policies.

• Ensure compliance with both locally and internationally recognized Accounting & Financial standards. 

• Ensure compliance with all local legislative and regulatory obligations.

• Perform year-end procedures and support (with time frames and commitments) the company’s financial reporting cycles. 

• Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

• Supervise and coordinate the internal and external auditing process to ensure compliance. 

• Provide financial analysis and advice supporting the company’s transaction requirements.

• Perform other duties as required in support of the Finance Department and overall business as required by the company.

 

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience 

• Professional finance and accounting qualification (ACCA, FCCA, CIMA) or equivalent.

• Post graduate qualifications or certifications will be an asset.

• A minimum of eight (8) years’ demonstrated experience in finance and accounting, four (4) of which must be at a Managerial level.
