The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for planning, organizing, receiving, storing, and dispatching warehouse goods. The incumbent will oversee the enforcement of all warehouse procedures and practices and will be responsible for the warehouse and all other areas where materials are stored.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Warehouse Operations

  • Manage the employees within the warehouse and ensure staff comply with all rules and regulations.
  • Oversee the receiving, storing, and dispatching of stock to ensure all activities are completed efficiently and effectively
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) 
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining KPIs for efficiency
  • Ensure all operations are conducted safely and in compliance with SOP
  • Plan work schedules and assign tasks to optimize productivity effectively

2. Stock Management and Replenishment

  • Coordinate the offloading of containers following best practices and SOP
  • Manage and process requisitions from other branches (where applicable), ensuring items are accurately packed and dispatched on time
  • Ensure that products are safely stored in designated locations, implementing best practices for optimizing warehouse layout and space utilization.
  • Identify aging stock and collaborate with the Store Manager and Floor Supervisors to move inventory through promotional activities or stock transfers

 

3. Quality Assurance

  • Conduct spot checks of items on shelves to verify secure storage and proper labeling
  • Ensure all surplus deliveries are promptly returned and reported to the Purchasing Manager
  • Record and report all damaged local goods to the Purchasing Manager within seven (7) days of receipt.
  • Inspect the physical condition of the warehouse and equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards

 

4. Team Leadership and Safety Compliance

  • Coordinate and supervise racking and storing activities in collaboration with warehouse personnel
  • Ensure all equipment operators are certified and that unauthorized personnel are not allowed to operate company equipment
  • Ensure all warehouse employees are properly attired, inclusive of the required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ensure that anyone visiting the warehouse is properly attired in the required PPE
  • Address non-compliance with safety and dress code policies through appropriate disciplinary actions
  • Works in conjunction with the Inventory Manager/Supervisor to coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure efficiency is maintained

 

5. Warehouse Maintenance and Health & Safety

  • Maintain an orderly and clean warehouse environment
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing company health & safety procedures
  • Ensure the toolroom and AC service doors are secured and locked at the end of the day

 

6. Waste Management

  • Ensure all cardboard boxes are flattened before discarding
  • Throw out or clear bins as necessary

    Qualification, Education, Experience
  • Associate degree in Warehousing and Inventory, Business Administration or a related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar or related field;
  • Proficient experience in the construction or hardware industry will be an asset
  • Working knowledge of inventory management will be an asset
  • Certification in Health and Safety will be an asset
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work on Saturdays
  • CIPS certification (level 2 or 3)  
  • License to operate a forklift
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management will be as asset
