Project: Environmental Remediation of the POS Power Station
Kaizen seeks an experienced and dedicated Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QA/QC) Manager to lead and oversee the QA/QC aspects of an environmental remediation project at the Port of Spain Power Station. This critical role requires ensuring all project activities comply with established quality, environmental, and regulatory standards, guaranteeing the success of our remediation efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP), ensuring compliance with all project deliverables and local environmental regulations.
- Oversee the collection, handling, and analysis of soil, groundwater, and air samples in line with established guidelines and project requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of site remediation activities, including:
- Contaminated soil excavation and disposal.
- Groundwater extraction and treatment.
- Sheet pile installation and other engineering controls.
- Review and approve contractor QA/QC plans, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory standards.
- Monitor compliance with Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) standards and Trinidad and Tobago environmental regulations.
- Coordinate with contractors and the Owner Engineer to address quality-related challenges promptly and effectively.
- Prepare detailed QA/QC reports for PowerGen and regulatory authorities, including documentation of sampling results, corrective actions, and compliance metrics.
- Maintain rigorous documentation and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all QA/QC records.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. A Master’s Degree or relevant certification is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA/QC roles related to environmental remediation, civil construction, or industrial projects.
- Familiarity with international environmental standards (e.g., CCME, ISO 9001) and local regulations in Trinidad and Tobago.
- Proven experience in soil and groundwater sampling, environmental monitoring, and waste management.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and leadership abilities to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
