Position Title: Production Engineer (Intern)
Department: Mill Production
Division: Operations
Reports To: Process Improvement Superintendent
Division Head: Director - Operations
POSITION SUMMARY
To assist in the management of the production process, including supporting team members to achieve maximum output, efficiency, and a quality product that meets customer requirements and the Company’s business objectives.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Assist in ensuring all semi-finished products meets customer quality standards and specifications.
- Support daily inventory management and control activities.
- Assist in weekly and monthly shop order closure.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at cost reduction and efficiency gains.
- Assist in execution of process improvement projects.
- Provide engineering support for production and maintenance activities to ensure maximum production.
- Evaluate current production activities and make recommendations for improvements.
- Help develop operating instructions and optimize operating parameters for production activities.
- Assist in developing best practices to improve production capacity, quality, and reliability.
- Support investigations into issues, analyze root causes, and develop solutions.
- Identify bottlenecks in the production process and assist in designing projects to eliminate them.
- Track downtime and waste.
- Assist in completing and ensuring compliance with all relevant Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents for production jobs.
- Participate in operational troubleshooting meetings for incurred operational downtime or failure to achieve production targets.
- Help establish safety procedures and environmental regulations for employees.
- Promote compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policies.
- Identify and report unsafe operations, conditions and/or practices immediately to your Manager; operate in a safe manner, use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
- Execute all relevant responsibilities as outlined in the Roles, Responsibilities and Authorities Matrix (MT-GM-004) to ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Perform any other related duties that may be assigned.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or any other related discipline from a recognized institution.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of one (1) year experience in a similar role in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Experience with designing and implementation of production optimization projects.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Visio, Visual Basic; AutoCAD
